Little Melanie has had a tough time so far, she was found as a stray with her 5 kittens and is now safe with us.
Melanie was starving when we first took her in and her kittens were covered in fleas and had worms.
After a few days Melanie lost her appetite and a vets visit showed she was anaemic and considerably underweight.
Melanie went downhill from here, she became dehydrated and blood tests indicated she was suffering from severe kidney failure, it was so serious that our vet didn't think she was going to make it through the night.
She's a little sweetheart, she didn't have the strength to have a drink of water, she was lethargic and when we thought we were going to lose her we were even more determined to do everything we could to make her better.
For the last 3 days she has been on fluids, medication and blood tests during the day at the vets then continued at home with us over night and returned each morning when they open to spend the day in their fantastic care. We're not sure what the outcome will be at the moment for her but everyone at Petmedic and at YCR are giving her every chance there is.
Today she was a little brighter and I even got her lovely purr back so we are hopeful that she can come through this, she's got 5 mischievous babies that need their mummy to teach them some manners!!
She is a lovely sweet girl and although things are looking a little brighter she still has a long way to go.
The vet's bill will have an impact on the charity's funds but with your generous donations they can continue to help other cats and kittens in need.
If you can spare a few pounds please donate, it really will make all the difference. Yorkshire Cat Rescue work extremely hard to rescue unwanted cats and kittens and every cat is treated equally with love and respect.
Thank you
