DIFC London to Brighton Cycle 2017 · 17 September 2017 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

It's all Sue Llewellyn's fault.  She (who must be obeyed) suggested we cycle from London to Paris last August.  I, like a fool, thought what a very good idea. Bought a bike, started cycling (badly) and then realised that at the ripe very unfit age of 56 that it was a 4 day challenge too far. What about the bike though?  Someone then suggested signing up for London to Brighton, only 54 miles and here we are.

It's much easier to train with someone....this is where Clive enters the picture who then persuades James and Lydia to join us too.  Everyone now buys a bike and we all start cycling. Then a few more join the fray: Dan, Rosie and Kerryn all join up too so it should be a very jolly gathering at the end (assuming I get there of course....)

Clive and I have managed 38 miles so far so we think we might be ready for the 54 mile challenge (although, is anyone ever ready for 54 miles on a bike?).  Our bottoms will thank you for your support.

We chose the Alzheimers Society in memory of Clive's Dad, Bernard, who had this rotten disease.  We'll also be remembering Susan's Mum, Janet.

ps:  We're both secretly enjoying the exercise although we'll be pleased when the challenge is over.  We might even keep it up afterwards,,,
