Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been following the work that Shelter does since I first moved to London in the Summer of 2011 - unfortunately working in hospitality prevented me from donating a meaningful amount of my time, until now, when the opportunity to participate in the Vertical Rush Challenge came about.
Vertical Rush is the UK’s original and most popular tower-running challenge, and Shelter’s flagship fundraising event. Taking place on Thursday 14 March 2019, 1,000 runners will race up the 932 steps of one of London’s tallest buildings; Tower 42 in the heart of the City.
I have been training for the past few months, mostly at gyms and studios but I have also done some old fashioned running up the stairs at every opportunity.
For the past two years I have been involved with Craft Beer Cares, an annual two-day beer festival fully ran by volunteers who donate all its profits to charities, namely Art Against Knives, Newman Holiday Trust and Mind. Last year we raised almost 10K. It makes sense to continue raising money for good causes over the rest of the year as well.
I'd love to think that our efforts are making a small difference, especially lately, as we need to look after those who are at risk of becoming homeless more than ever, in absence of a clear effort by authorities. So please chuck me a few pounds if you can, and I'll buy you a nice beer when I see you next. 🍺🏃🍺
