Story
On 22 September I am running the Northampton Half Marathon. I enjoy running but also want to take this as an opportunity to raise funds and the awareness of Huntington’s Disease. A good friend of mine Mick Billingham has HD
I have known Mick Billingham for a number of years and seen the devastating effect of Huntington's Disease on him and his family.
Over the years I have visited him at home and in various hospitals. He is now in the Rambaut (pronounced Rambow) Ward in St Andrew's Hospital Northampton
It is a truly awful disease that destroys an individual and places great pressure on the family particularly the children who may be carriers of the gene.
The HDA support the families of those suffering with HD and the scientists seeking a cure. Beating this disease is now within sight. It is too late for Mick but please give generously to the HDA and visit their website to understand more of the disease.
Raising funds and awareness whilst doing the half marathon is a token of support for the Billingham’s who I greatly admire.
And now for something completely different. If you want to read about my running experiences check out my running blog at
