Angelas Run 5km and 3km · 26 June 2010

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

On the 26th June 2010 family friends work colleagues, neighbours and 20 ex International athletes, will get together at Cowm Reservoir near Rochdale to run 5kms and celebrate the life of Angela Deegan.

Angela suffered from malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer for which there is no effective cure or treatment at present. Despite being an active athlete with a healthy diet and lifestyle, Angela was not spared by this disease.

By running together we will celebrate a life dedicated to being a teacher coach, runner and an exceptional wife mother and friend. Having started life as a sprinter / long jumper, Ange turned to middle distance at Birmingham university  in the late 1970s, and ran 2hours 50minutes for the first London Marathon in 1981 as well as winning the 6 day Tour of Tameside in 1984.

Cancer will affect all of us at some time in our lives, either directly, or through a relative or friend. Angelawas taken from us too soon by cancer, so help us make a difference today, providing a cancer free future for our children and grandchildren . Thank you.
