Thank you for visiting our fundraising page, you have now started to make a difference for Cancer Research and help us raise awareness of the rare cancers that have taken so many of our loved ones.

Our mum, Anne Waith was a young 61 year old with so much more to give and given the chance would touch your heart if you ever met her.

Anne was living life and carrying on like the rest of us do until something rare taps you on the shoulder and takes you on a different journey.

Sadly, our mum went on this journey and we went with her.  However, we only had 2 weeks of knowing, caring and being with her before a rare aggressive gall bladder cancer ended that journey.

Mum was only supposed to have gall stones from a minor discomfort and bloating, she had no symptoms of gall bladder cancer which only effects approx. 1 in 100k per year.  Sadly, these symptoms only reveal themselves much too late for successful survival. 

Cancer Research at the moment is raising awareness of preventative measures such as no smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, balanced diet and execerise and reduce stress.  Mum did not smoke or drink, was not overweight and had everyday stress like all of us.  How can we fight this form of cancer? We are looking for answers and cannot get those answers today which is why Cancer Research needs more help in fighting the rarer cancers that are affecting all of us.   

We need to make sure that Anne Waith's memory can help others fight against all forms of cancer or at least live your life, enjoy your family and be good to each other.  Mum was so many things to so many of us, caring, thoughtful, selfless, honest and was often referred to as 'a lovely lady'.  This is our way of giving back to Mum for everything she is and has been.  She will guide us through from here......the story continues.

We will be fundraising starting with Race for Life and will do more challenging events every year, maybe we'll get to Mount Everest one day.... we will also organise other events such as Music gigs and would appreciate any ideas for future events.
