The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'll explain here why I'm looking for your support with fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity.

Susan Cheesman, the wife of a great friend of mine, Howard, sadly died having had a brain tumour. Susan was a teacher and gave a tremendous amount of help and encouragement to the people she taught. The brain tumour stopped her giving more but it doesn't stop those who knew her giving their help, support and encouragement to the charity that is working against this terrible disease.

In previous years I have cycled and run marathons to raise money for a number of worthy causes. Age does not come alone however and with it the weight of time on your back and more recently my belly! My fitness levels are not what they used to be but I did want to do something that would raise the profile of what the Brain Tumour Charity stood for and to do it in the memory of Susan. Susan and Howard lived near Carlisle and Howard is originally from the Wirral where I was born. A cycle ride from Carlisle to the Wirral  was mentioned and it seems like the right thing to do.

The ride will commence on Friday 27th July at Hardwicke Circus in Carlisle. We'll have an event in Lancaster that evening then set off the next day for The Wirral via a trip over from Liverpool on the Mersey Ferry.

The ride will finish off with a charity night at Oxton Cricket Club (CH43 2LH) that evening from 7pm. Free entry. John Jenkins and the James St Band will be playing together with Marc Vormawah, and also Northline. Food will be available too. It's a great venue and it will be a great evening.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you again and I hope you can come along to the Charity event at Oxton Cricket Club on Saturday 28th July.
