BONJOURNO MES AMIES!
Well the time has come for me to stop talking and start doing...
Did you know that
‘It has been estimated that the number of blind people in the world will increase from 44 million in 2000 to 76 million by 2020, if action is not taken to reduce blindness…and that developing countries could potentially achieve a £192 billion boost in economic productivity over the next 20 years if they adopt appropriate measures to reduce blindness.’ That’s quite an economic cost for countries already suffering the pain and turmoil of civil war and poverty…..…yet 75% of all blindness is preventable or curable and often only at a minimal cost…
For example it costs just £17 to perform a cataract operation restoring the sight to those in some of the poorest areas…
Coming from a family with very poor vision- lots of glasses and contact wearers in every generation!- I can understand just how powerful the gift of sight is and feel more than privileged to be able to afford and have access to methods which overcome visual impairment. Sight is a basic human right which everyone regardless of status, should be entitled to. That’s why I’d like to encourage access to treatment and eye care across the developing world- where the cause is more critical and crucial to human development….
So please dig deep- I only have a month to raise £3,000, but want to try and raise so much more!! I'm sure I can do it, but I will need all of your help amigos- and fast!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sightsavers International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
