EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

NB sorry for not notifying anyone earlier, but the trip had to be postponed and will be carried out at a later date. This is due to storms on the date that we planed.  The trip is still on, so not to worry.

William Hilton, Max Thurlow, Ed Thurlow and George Sunderland will travel across the Irish Sea to Belfast, from Will's house on Mull. This is a 600-mile round trip and we have estimated it to take around 10 hours to complete. The Irish Sea is renounded for its high seas and strong currents and will be challenging to complete.

This is in aid of Headway, which is a charity that helps families to live with the effects of head injuries. This is close to our hearts as my father (Will's Dad) sustained a severe head injury in Feburary last year. He has come through the medical side of the journey but still there is a long way to go. We chose Headway as they help families many months after the injury to help with the change of life coping with a brain damage. It is difficult in day to day life, the main problem is fustration, this is were Headway come in. They will help the family in anyway possible to ease the pain and make it all the more bearable.

I think for most families - the enormity of the injury does not really dawn until months after the injury/stroke and it is when the patient has left the support of hospital/rehabilitation that this is where Headway can play a vital role.

Please give generously as headway depends on donations to keep going. I hope your donation will help us reach our £7,500 target. It is easy to donate and set up!
