Headway Swindon provides support to people with brain injury, their families and carers. Through cognitive and social rehabilitation they encourage and Support people with brain injury to attain the highest possible quality of life and assist them to independent living.

Story

I am delighted to confirm I will be doing the sponsored silence for local charity, Headway Swindon, because I’ve seen the amazing work they do, the difference they make to the life of people with a brain injury and the respite their day centre gives family and carers.

I was very lucky, in 2006 I fell off my horse suffering a bleed on the brain. I had short term memory loss and to this day, I can’t remember what happened. I remember mounting my horse, then waking up in hospital. I was extremely lucky, but many people  are not so lucky and need Headway for years of support and rehabilitation.

Hopefully this campaign will help people understand just how frustrating and difficult it can be for Headway Swindon’s clients which have to go through this daily.  Speech is commonly affected after suffering a brain injury or stroke, so why not join me by putting yourself up to the challenge too?

If that’s not possible, I know Headway Swindon would appreciate you
sponsoring me or donating directly.

This campaign aims to help raise awareness of brain injury and funds for their rehabilitation centre in Dorcan. Money raised will go towards up to date brain training, speech & language software and new courses to ensure their clients are getting the best rehabilitation after suffering a brain injury.

Headway Swindon provide a cognitive rehabilitation therapy program encouraging clients to set and achieve their own personal goals. The rehabilitation centre in Dorcan, Swindon helps attendees regain key skills such as reading, writing, speech, planning and social skills. Headway also provides support and advice to carers and loved ones to enable them to cope with and manage the impact of a brain injury on the family.

Please consider sponsoring me, even if its just £1 as every little will help this fantastic charity continue to transform the lives of those with brain injury.
