Story
My Grandfather, Johnny Duffy, was officially diagnosed with vascular dementia two years ago, after having a major heart attack, emergency bypass surgery, and subsequent strokes some years earlier. This condition has been difficult on all who love him and a cure or even an advancement in the field of research would benefit both him and our entire family greatly.
My Great-Aunt Bridgie Keating was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease some six years ago. Again any advancements in the cure or help of people with Alzheimer's would be amazing to Bridgie's quality of life and the entire family.
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.
