Memory Walk 2018
Campaign by Alzheimer's Society (RCN 296645)
This year over 110,000 people walk united, against dementia. We aim, with your help to raise over £9 million to help anyone affected by dementia.

Story

I’m doing this with Stuart because I sadly lost my mum to this terrible illness which left my mum not knowing her own immediate family members. It’s terrible to loose someone to Dementia when they’ve been so active and intelligent all their lives, to see them forget so many memories and basic understanding of every day tasks.

I nursed my mother for over 30 years whilst working and running my own family homelife, to see mum disappear from us so quickly was a surprise. You cannot comprehend how your parent cannot remember you or your family members, towards the final days she struggled with the most basic of tasks.

Please help us to help others in the same situation, it is a lonely thankless task looking after your loved one who at times no longer recognises you. With your help we can find a cure, they are so close and research into Dementia  improves daily, so we hope by giving a little more we may help or even one day be able to prevent others from suffering as I did for many years.

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.
