Story
Last year I took part as a volunteer doing the very important task of pelican crossing duty! I was tired and cold after spending the night on a street corner in London (!) however I met some great people and this year will be one of the lucky few taking part! Training started in January when it was dark and rainy - we've now progressed to April and it's still raining!
I am raising money in memory of my oldest friend Sarah Mason-Hippey who lost her battle with breast cancer in late 2006 at the young age of 33. My badminton pal Jenny Shopper (named due to her plentiful shopping holidays!) is also fighting her own battle. There are not many of us who do not know someone touched by the evil that is cancer so please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Walk The Walk Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So thank you for visiting my fundraising page and please sponsor me now!

As well as trying to train every other day with shorter walks, playing badminton and going to the gym, below are details of the longer walks I've done ...
15/3 10 mile walk done without getting wet, although a dog did try and trip me up! Joined half way by Nerd and Dora. Don't think Dora enjoyed this one but they did join me from a standing start and I was particularly in my stride at that point!
22/3 13 miles (I had planned to do 12 but misread the map - that's why I couldn't find Mares!) in the cold wind with snow and hail!
29/3 14 miles. Started in lovely sunshine and ended up wet and muddy. Mares and Nerd slip sliding through the mud was very entertaining!
5/4 14 miles. Sun, hail and rain but a very good time, 3hrs 30 min. Did some on my own and joined by Dora and Nerd half way through. They acted as look out for an impromptu wee stop!
12/4 16 miles. Very hard and very tired at the end - 5 weeks today and I'll be there - EAK!! Started off with Mares and joined by Dora and Nerd half way to do 9 miles.
17/4 9.5 miles with Mares. Biting cold wind but lovely and sunny.
20/4 7.2 miles oop North off road training! Lovely walk alongside a reservoir with Nerd. Though she's now saying she's injured and can't do the next 16 miler on Saturday!
26/4 16 miles, joined by Nerd to do 12 and Dora who did 9. Lovely dry and sunny weather for a change - even managed some sunburn! Nerd struggled with injuries but rallied to sneak off and enjoy a Big Mac!
2/5 Caught the rush hour train in with Nerd, me in my tracky and baseball cap, everyone else in smart suits and work clothes! Over 20 miles completed in 5 hours with help from Dora (9 miles) who made the first chunk fly by and Mares who rallied my spirits at the end. (Over 20, possibly 21 because there was no half mile marker!)
So that's it for long training walks, just the big one now on 17th May, I have the first start time of 11 pm so think of me (I'm sure you won't, either you'll be in bed or on a night out, in either case I'll be the last thing on your mind!)
11/5 - Managed to fit in a Race for Life at Skipton - was very hot!
Many thanks to my Mum (Mares) and my good friends, Nerd (Jan) and Dora (Katherine) who have helped me train in all weathers - couldn't do it without you!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MOONWALK REPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After a slightly damp and delayed start we were off at 11.30pm with the bra safely covered due to the cold. Waved off by Excellent Supporters, Nerd and Whippy who we somehow managed to spot at the start and after about 3 miles (where Nerd took a fab photo of me and pals with arms in the air amongst a huge crowd of walkers!). I walked initially with two tinkling bumble bees, otherwise known as Caz and Angie and we made good progress, nicely timing a toilet stop to avoid the queues. We took in Buckingham Palace, the Tower Bridge, Tate Modern, the London Eye and Battersea Dog and Cats Home. After about 14 miles I strode on alone with my MP3 on, even singing along when I was sure no-one was listening! I made really good progress overtaking plenty and took in smart shops in Chelsea including the Chelsea Flower Show (no time to stop and admire the flowers!), Cabinet War Rooms, Big Ben, beautiful houses in Kensington and the Houses of Parliament. Nerd and Dora tracked my progress beautifully and made a very welcome re-appearance at Hyde Park to help me thorugh the last 3 miles and take some super action photos. I came in to beautiful sunshine at 6.11 am so it had taken me about 6 hours 40 minutes with only one blister to show for it. Sadly the bra made only a fleeting appearnce as it was so cold! After a welcome breakfast and a short sleep we were back on our way up. A very generous cab driver donated £5 to the "worthy cause" after hearing what I'd done (or maybe he took pity on my tired face!)
Through your donations we have raised in excess of £1100 which is much more than I every imagined I would raise so thankyou very much - I can assure you I won't be doing it again!
Thanks to everyone for your encouraging text messages both at the start and to Carla and Roz through the night. A special thank you to my tinkling bumble bees on the night and to Nerd and Whippy for supporting me at all stages and through the night - I could not have done it without them xxxx
