Together with local partners and country offices, we’re working in the world’s poorest countries to tackle the root causes of poverty and respond in emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Story

Salaams and Hi and Welcome to my fundraising extravaganza!

So here's the deal - you give me a portion of your precious dosh (which I shall carefully hand over to  the Muslim Hands charity) and I shall walk a 45Km section of The Great Wall of China, complete with my oversized thighs and psychedelic headscarf, how does that sound? And all in the name of 'charideeeeee'.

The Great Wall of China is one of the great wonders of the world, stretching approximately 6,700km!

The Challenge:  a 3-day 45km trek along sections of the Great Wall taking place the first week of June 2008.

The Cause: The Muslim Hands charity runs a Green Ribbon Week which is an annual initiative to increase awareness and raise funds for the innocent children of war all over the world  - regardless of religiousity (so I know you won't be put off  by the 'Muslim' in Muslim Hands - charity doesn't have any boundaries and victims of war, famine and disease are all innocent)

From helping landmine victims in Afghanistan to providing sports equipment for school children in West Africa, Muslim Hands Green Ribbon Week will help better the lives of thousands of children worldwide.

The Intention:  The test of charity lies not in giving away something we have discarded but the things that we value greatly, something that we love.  It is selflessness that my belief demands. It may be in any form—one’s personal efforts, talents, skill, learning,  property or possessions.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me.....please donate generously.

Thank you for your generosity forever, and I promise to facebook you pics of me struggling as I try to maneouvre my fat reserves across the landscape of the far east. And although China has a bad profile of late, this doesn't mean that I condone the country's rulers actions in anyway!

The last time I did something like this was when I ran the London Marathon dressed in a saree, I was as coy as a bride asking for money but was struck by people's generosity in sponsoring me through word of mouth, so ended up raising several hundred pounds for an orphanage in Bangladesh.

I hope this time you will help me reach my target of 1000 pounds or more!

Jazak'Allah/Thank you

Nasfim ;)
