Story
Hello everyone...
Hurrah, I did it :-) I've actually run the London Marathon, I still can't quite believe it...
Temperatures went up to a whopping 26.5 degrees and was officially the hottest London Marathon in its 27-year history which made the running conditions very difficult and was nothing like the weather that we'd been training in! I did quite well up to about mile 10, and was on target (at that point) for a finish time of around 4:20, but gradually time started to slip away each mile after that and then from about 20 miles, my legs were so heavy and I felt so ill.... The sun beating down made London look so beautiful, but never have I wished so much for rain and a cloudy sky.
My finish time wasn't as great as I'd have hoped - 5 hours and 9 minutes, but with 2 asthma attacks (my housemate was running for Asthma UK, so that was quite apt!), it made me take it a little steady.
Lots of love and thanks, has to go out to my dear friends at Nettwerk who came out in support around mile 14 and shouted lots of encouragement and held up fantastic banners ("go Nats go" and "team Seymour" !!)... I even saw my parents, my Dad had the video camera filming the moment for the family archives (all 4 seconds of it!).
I slowly jogged (running would be an exaggeration) the last few miles and never has Buckingham Palace been such a welcome site. The amount of people who were there cheering all the runners on, was very emotional. That people from all over London are there willing every single person to cross that finish line is amazing and I look forward to going as a spectator next year, to cheer all those runners on as I now know that everyone shouting encouragement makes such a difference.
I have to admit that when I crossed that magical yellow line and a very nice lady asked if I was okay and said "well done" and put my medal round my neck, I did shed a few tears!
Thanks to you all, I have managed to raise over £3100 which makes the pain so worthwhile and I thank each of you for your sponsorship (CLIC really is an amazing charity), your lovely messages and all the good luck e-mails and texts that I received.
Thank you for supporting me, I honestly couldn't have done it without you. With much love
Natalie
