Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

When JP Peters told me that he was signing up for another kayaking challenge and wondered whether I would like to sign up as well, the blood drained from my face as memories of the 2015 challenge came flooding back. When he went on to say it was to kayak around Lihou, Herm, Sark, Alderney and Guernsey during the summer months I thought he was joking!

When I realised he wasn’t joking, I looked back to the 2015 challenge and remembered just how extremely rewarding it had been, not just because we kayaked around Guernsey in 7 hours, but also because we raised a lot of money for some deserving charities.

Even though the Bailiwick Kayak Tour the Shores challenge will be a huge effort, especially Alderney, ultimately it will raise a lot of money for local charities. We will start with Lihou this Sunday 14 June. We will then move on to Herm, Sark and Alderney and finally Guernsey.

Along with the group, I will be raising money for Smile for Georgie Foundation. The Smile for Georgie Foundation will also be contributing some of our fundraising proceeds to Guernsey Mind and Les Bourgs Hospice.

I have also managed to entice my son George to join me in the challenge. To be honest he was more up for the challenge than me!!!

Thank you so much for reading my JustGiving site and we appreciate any donations you can give and the amazing charities we are looking to raise money for.

Thank you

Neil and George

About the charity

Following the tragic road traffic accident in July of 2017 the family of Georgie Le Prevost wanted to do something positive and decided to raise money through a sponsored, tandem parachute jump with Jersey skydive. Annie and Jenny Le Prevost were overwhelmed with the immense public support and generosity of Guernsey people who made a vast number of donations to their Just Giving page. This generosity prompted the family to consider ways in which they could make a positive contribution to the Island in memory of Georgie and this is how the concept of the “Smile For Georgie Foundation” emerged. The Foundation was officially registered on the 31st January 2018, with the purpose of making a difference and bringing smiles to the people of Guernsey through small acts of kindness. Those who knew Georgie will appreciate the positive contribution she made to life and the smile she had for everyone. The Foundation intends to reflect her personality in all that is does and looks forward to receiving ongoing public support that will ensure its success
