We did it !!!!!!! (updated 24 June 2009)
I am taking part in a 140-mile coast-to-coast cycle ride from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Sunderland to raise money for children with life-limiting illnesses, this three -day challenge in June is to raise money for two very worthy causes.
The first good cause is the daughter of one of my work colleagues, Isabella Cox is 3yrs old and has been diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder. As a result of her illness she has various heart defects, suffers from epilepsy and has severe global mental and physical developmental delay. Isabella is also registered blind and, with doctors not knowing her long-term prognosis, it is hoped that the money raised will help her in the future.
The second is Little Havens Children's Hospice in Thundersley, which helps children with life-limiting illnesses to live their lives to the full. It provides respite care for families, with fully-qualified medical staff to care for the children whilst they are there. The money raised will help Little Havens continue to care for terminally-ill and disabled children under the age of 19.
The intention is to raise money for Isabella's future which will mean her requiring certain specialist equipment that the NHS does not provide, like bathing equipment, sensory equipment, mobility equipment, and the list goes on.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Little Havens Children's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
