Story

Thank you very Much for visiting my fundraising page.

On 10th August I am taking part in the London Triathlon. The event is held near the excel centre at the london docklands and along with several thousand other competitiors I will be trying to drag my body through a 1.5K open water swim, 40K bike ride and then 10K run......all in aid of hopefully improved fitness and a very worthwhile charity in St James Hospital in Leeds.

In the middle of last year my Dad was admitted to St James Hospital in Leeds with a very serious liver complaint. After numerous checks and tests Dad was given a new liver on 1st August 2007 and with that liver came a return to much better health (and of course a return to the golf course !).

The team at St James Hospital ("Jimmys") were magnificant throughout the entire time Dad was in their care and there is no doubt that without their great attention Dad wouldent have been lucky enough to experience the year that he just has.

Unfortunately unrelated to his new liver Dad has in the last 2 months contracted a form of cancer that cant be cured however last August the team at "Jimmys" gave Dad another year of his life and in this "rollercoaster" of a year he has been able to see more of his family and friends as well as seeing his grandchildren who he loves so much grow up in front of his eyes..

Our family is greatly appreciative of the work that the team in the Liver unit at Leeds did to give Dad another year with us and I would therefore like to think my few hours of pain on 10th August will help raise some money so that more people like Dad can benefit from their great work.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now - Hopefully my few hours of pain will benefit more people like Dad.

Thanks very much

Neil
