Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my beautiful, brave daughter's Neve & Belle Boitelle. Born too sick, too early and taken far too soon.

My twin ID girls born at the LGI two months early on a date to remember 10/11/12. They stayed in High Dependency for 5 days before being transferred and spending the next 2 months in Neonates at Jimmies in Leeds. Neve and Belle both came home finally on 17th January 2013 two days after their original due date. They were home for just 3 months before both (they liked doing things together), were diagnosed with Infant ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) aged 5 months. A Blood Cancer to you and I.

Baby Neve (diagnosed as very high risk) only managed 15 days high dose chemotherapy and steroid treatment before losing her brave battle on 20/05/13, aged just 6 months.

Her younger twin (by three minutes), Belle battled, battled and battled for almost 2 years of her tiny life. Spending most of her life in the LGI (her 1st home we called it)!

Belle fought like a warrior. She spend her 1st and 2nd birthday in hospital and last Christmas too. Belle overcame so many obstacles including Meningitis and Pneumonia just before Christmas 2014. We thought we'd lost her last year, but she proved she wasn't going anywhere without a fight. She was such a fighter.

Belle relapsed twice, once in October 2014, then again in February 2015. After many cycles of intense chemotherapy and steroids, as parents we had one last option to get Belle into remission before her planned Bone Marrow Transplant (which was going to be May 2015). We headed off to Sheffield Children's Hospital in March this year for an unlicensed drug (in the UK) which was a form of Immunotherapy, a drug that targets cancer cells only and not good and bad cells like chemotherapy. We remained hopeful. Hopeful that our baby girl could fight this horrible disease. After trebling the dose within 48 hours in Sheffield, we reluctantly headed back to Leeds, after one week of treatment. The treatment we are told hadn't been successful. Her bone marrow aspirate taken days before arriving in Sheffield now told us she had 70% leukaemia in her bone marrow. Our baby doll was dying - we had to act fast. We had to come home!

Immediately upon arriving back at the LGI, Belle re-started intense chemotherapy, but tragically on 25th March 2015, after spending two days in PICU, her condition worsened dramatically and she had to be ventilated due to severe breathing difficulties. Belle passed away in our arms in the early hours that morning, 3.40am to be precise. This was an horrific, agonising 48 hours. It all happened so quickly, we didn't have time to think she wasn't going to make it through.

Our lives turned upside down (again). Our hearts and souls forever broken. This has been a heartwrenching journey with our beautiful, brave princesses. Taken away from us so soon, so brutally. So unfair.

We owe it to both of our girls to:

- keep their memory alive...every day, for the rest of our lives.

- help spread awareness of Childhood Cancer and Blood Cancer (Leukaemia).

- raise funds for a fabulous charity close to our hearts. An amazing charity who continue to provide our family and unfortunately many, many others who have now had to start a new and horrifying journey. A journey of being bereaved Childhood Cancer parents. Another journey we never ever wanted to be associated with, but are now part of.

If we can give something back, on behalf of our inspirational girls, then this will make our lives a little more worth living. That's why I have decided to start fundraising. We have already sent out cheques separate to this funding page for £500 to Candlelighters, £500 to Martin House Children's Hospice and £250 to Clic Sargent Children's Cancer Charities. We also gave Candlelighters a further £1,000 from our original GoFundMe page whilst Belle still battled cancer.

Please share, like, donate if you can, and continue to support us whilst we take time to find our new way in life, now our two daughters are with all the other angel children taken far too soon from the dreaded 'C' word.

Take time to appreciate life. You never know when your life may be changed... in an instant.

If you can donate or support in any way, please do. It will mean so much to us, our angels 😇 😇 and our family and supportive friends.

Think you'd be up for some fundraising yourself? Well why not? I know a lady who is currently training for her next boxing match in Headingly later this year. She will be honouring Neve & Belle. She's going to fight for them and fight for us. Watch out for details soon.

Thank you for reading our Story.
