Hi Everyone, 

We are 6 Scottish University students out in New York for the Summer. Each one of us is doing a different Internship ranging from software development, to engineering projects to working to make the fashion industry more green. All of our Internships are centered on innovation and creation. We are given real responsibility and completing projects that create real change - not your typical Personal Assistant Internship role! 

All of these Internships are found and funded by the Saltire Foundation and Entrepreneurial Scotland. Not only do they locate these incredible Intern opportunities but they pay for our flights, accommodation (in Manhattan!!) and even give us a weekly stipend to cover food, transport etc. This experience would not be possible without the support of the Saltire fund. 

So, we would like to give back to say thank you for this incredible opportunity. 

We are going to walk the entire perimeter of Manhattan. This is known in NYC as 'The Great Saunter'. On a map this looks quite daunting and we will have to get our walking trainers on as it is a 32 mile walk. Of course, we are going to bring the Saltire flag with us as we walk through the luxury of the Upper East Side, into Harlem an area we haven't yet explored, up to the most northerly part of Manhattan to Inwood Forest, all the way back down Western Manhattan, pass the Statue of Liberty herself and then back up and round the East Village where we will have completed our challenge! 

We are going to walk just over 10 miles each as we are going to complete this in pairs - passing the flag over at each swap over - essentially a big Scottish relay! 

Any donations that can be made, really no matter how small, are greatly appreciated as a way for us to say a huge thank you to Saltire Scotland.
