Story

Dear All

I have decided to set myself a bit of a challenge!

In a months time I am planning to run, and complete (!!) the Bristol Half Marathon. Why you might ask am I going to put myself through this?

Well, here are my reasons…
Firstly, as many people know, over the last few years I have had a number of close friends in Bristol, and from further afield, who have had to cope with being diagnosed with cancer and have under gone treatment.  This makes me want to help in any way I can…

Secondly, I have not run over 10 miles for over 10 years, but now feels the time to do it. My aim is to raise money for one of the many charities that offer support to people living with cancer.

I have chosen the Penny Brohn, a local
charity with a national reach, who offer support through a holistic approach to cancer care.  Their services are free and they aim to be as accessible as possible to as many people as they can. They rely  heavily on charitable donations and don’t have the high profile of many of the other cancer charities for fundraising .

Hopefully a month will give me both enough time to raise my target of £500 (or beyond!?) for the Penny Brohn, and also get my running legs ready for the challenge!

Thanks
Nick
