Story
We did it!! 2hrs 17mins & 57seconds!!! - We trained together for 9 weeks and crossed the line together - what a feeling to actually get to the end of a half marathon when we hadn't been running long!
It was a very very long day - up at 7am to make sure we had breakfast in time, a drive to the Metro where we joined the queues to get on the train, then a queue to use the loo, then we stood in line - don't mention the toilets - too late, need to go again - so off we run to the bushes!!
Then it's warm up with Mr Motivator and 20minutes later we're on our way. It was a roasting hot day so we found the shade where we could, we got to the 7 mile mark feeling great then the 10 mile mark came upon us so slowly, 11 miles even worse, going up hill after a 2hr run is not atall funny but we made it and rounded the corner and along the sea front to rapturous applause from our supporters and half of South Sheilds. What a great atmosphere.
We got back tot he Highlands at 1am on Monday morning but would we do it again - where do we sign??
Only 9 weeks prior to the 20th September, we were 'volunteered' (or perhaps 'invited' is a better discription) to run the Great North Run. Realising the gravity of the situation, we have undertaken an essential training programme to get us through the ordeal. For Nick, it is Project: Fat to Fit in 9 weeks. Debbie, as part of her training programme has promised to give up wine until the race which deserves donations for that alone!
Can we do it? Yes we can. It won't be easy so we sure as hell ain't doing it for nothing!!!!
Thank you for visiting our page. We appreciate the support and are grateful for joining us in making a conribution to Disability Snowsport UK. It is a tough year for charities, so every pound will make a difference more than ever.
Thanks again,
Nick & Debbie
