On May 2nd 2010, Dave Redfern, my best friend, died at St. John's Hospice in Moggerhanger after a brave fight against oesophagus cancer. He left a huge hole in the lives of all who knew him, and still does so today. The last two weeks of his life were made so much better by the amazing care he received at St John's Hospice, which is a truly remarkable place.

4 days before he died, over a bottle of his favourite whisky, I said I would run the London Marathon to raise money for Hospice Care and he roared with laughter, saying I'd never do it!!

I have never run a race in my life, am quite partial to snacks and wine, and couldn't run a mile without total exhaustion, so he did have a point!!!!! But since then, I have begun to pound the streets and have told all of the children in my school that I am doing it, so there's no backing out now!!

10 years ago, my dad died at the same hospice and his ashes are buried in the grounds. He spent many years raising thousands of pounds for the place, so in memory of Dave and my dad, I am now taking up the fundraising baton, so to speak.

A brilliant company called www.yoursole.co.uk  have kindly adopted me and donated my shoes, running clothes and a great pair of insoles (I need all the help I can get to complete 26 miles!!!!)

I wonder if you would be kind enough to sponsor me and help me raise money for the brilliant hospice movement, and help me keep my word to Dave. It costs £2800 a day to provide all of the amazing services that Hospices give to their patients and their families, so to raise enough for just one day would be a great achievement for me.

Anything, however small you can give, would be most appreciated and will help me keep going on April 17th.
