Thank you for taking time to visit our JustGiving page. As a future journalist the task of writing something to put on our page should be fairly straightforward. However, I can assure you the pressure is really on to make this a page worthy of the cause that we are running for.
We decided as a group that we wanted to do something to honour the memory of our friend, brother and son, Nick Walker who sadly passed away 3 years ago. Last year, the more athletic members of the group suggested doing a half marathon, which later turned into 16.8 miles. We all (just about) completed the Coniston 14 and raised over £20,000 for the Kids Scanner Appeal at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We were all very grateful for your kind donations that helped us achieve this.

One year on, we have decided to get our running shoes out of the cupboard again. For many it will be the first time that they have seen the light of day since the run in Coniston 12 months ago. This year we have chosen to take part in the “Newton’s Fraction” run in Grantham.

Thirteen of the 14 who were on the start line for last year’s run have put their names forward again and some new recruits have joined the ranks, many of who fancy their chances of putting in a strong performance.
We will be running this year again in memory of Nick and to help raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We were all united in our support for such a great local charity that means so much to us all. We received a great deal of support from the charity last year and would like to thank them for all the work that they put into supporting us. We have not set a specific project to raise money for, as this will be determined by the amount of money that we raise. A list of the projects can be found below.

With less than six weeks until the run the pressure really is to complete another challenging run with some steep inclines to contend with. But spirits are high and we hope to make this year as big a success as last year was. We would like to thank everyone again for the huge amount of time and effort they put in to help us achieve what we did. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to do half of what we did last year.
This is something that means a lot to all involved and any help that you could offer, no matter how big or small will make a massive difference to Sheffield Children’s Hospital and help them keep up the great work that they do.
