I have just run the London marathon  for  Christies Hospital in memory of a colleague who died earlier this year.  Paul Wright is sorely missed at the Ryleys School . He was a dedicated , talented member of staff inspiring many pupils in his beloved subject of geography. 

  I really enjoyed the first twenty miles, keeping up a good pace and being pushed along by the music and the enthusiasm of the spectators.  The great wall that everyone talks about hit me just before twenty miles and I slowed down dramatically.  However I had Paul in mind as I battled through the last miles, thinking  of how uncomplaining he was even when he must have been in great pain.  I took inspiration from Paul and would not succumb to walking, stumbling over the finish line in 3hrs 33mins.
