Norman and Sophie's Kilt-walk fundraiser

Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2025 · 1 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
This year, my Grandad and I are taking part in the Aberdeen Kilt walk to raise money for the incredible team who cared for him during his battle with Oral Cancer in April 2022.
The initial cancer diagnosis was a huge shock for our whole family, not knowing what the outcome would be and what the recovery process would look like for him. However despite the prognosis he remained extremely positive, still telling us his awful jokes.😆
The surgery took place on the 14th of June at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he spent hours under the knife having a Hemiglossectomy and a neck dissection to remove his cancer. Thankfully the surgery was a huge success, and his recovery went smoothly! Which was a huge relief to all the family.
The Care and support he received from the NHS team was invaluable and this is our way of giving back.
All the donations we raise will be going to the Maxillofacial Unit, where he was looked after throughout the whole process by the incredible team! Any donations big or small means very much to us! Thank you for taking the time to read his story! 💛
