Story
UPDATE ON OUR TARGET : MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED SO FAR - THANKS TO YOUR DONATIONS, WE EXCEEDED OUR ORIGINAL TARGET OF £4000 ON 18TH APRIL. WE'D LIKE TO RAISE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE FOR THIS FANTASTIC CAUSE, SO WE'VE INCREASED OUR TARGET TO £5,500. MANY MANY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
When Beefy first walked from John O’Groats to Lands End in 1985, only 20% of children with leukaemia survived. Now, thousands of miles and over £13 million later, 90% of children are beating the most common form of this devastating disease. But Sir Ian will not stop fundraising until every child with a blood cancer survives, and we are delighted and honoured to be joining Sir Ian on his London walk on 21st April. Please please support this amazing charity, who we owe so much to.
Oisin's story : A few weeks after his 3rd birthday Oisin was diagnosed with Leukaemia and rushed by emergency ambulance to Great Ormond Street Hospital. His little brother, Dara, was just 7 weeks' old at the time. Oisin was exremely ill, his white cell count was over 400, anything over 50 is classed as high! So the first week was a very tough balancing act. He also had a pretty tough time over the treatment of 3 years, 3 months. At one time, he was under the care of 3 different teams at Great Ormond Street, was being fed intraveneously and was so sick and weak he could barely walk. After that he was unable to have solid food for 6 months. Thanks to the wonderful teams at Great Ormond Street, Whipps Cross University Hospital, the Redbridge community nursing team, and of course the world leading research of this wonderful charity, Oisin has come through his treatment and is now unrecognisable from the little boy of 2 years ago. He's now doing really well and is full of life.
So, please give your support and help beat blood cancer.
Many thanks, Oisin, Dara, Nicola & Peter Coll
