Oli and Dorota's Marathon Madness

Oliver Jones is raising money for Headway - the brain injury association
In memory of Tracy Slater
We provide UK-wide support and information to improve life after brain injury

Story

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit our page.

In a moment of lockdown madness we have decided to run a marathon this Tuesday 05/05/2020. This was very much a spur of the moment decision!

We know this is bonkers but this is what makes this challenge feel special as we are running it in the memory of Oli’s mum and if one word describes Tracy best, it would be bonkers. We have done no training and are in suboptimal physical condition (way too many lockdown cocktails).

We are going to run in support of Headway, a charity that focuses on supporting people who suffered brain injuries along with their families. Oli’s mum Tracy, suffered a catastrophic brain injury and sadly passed away. Enough time has gone by that we would like to do something positive in her memory and raise money for a good cause.

We appreciate there is a lot of fundraising happening at the moment, so taking this into consideration we have set a target amount of nominal sum of £260.3. We understand that during the COVID-19 pandemic other charities are also struggling for funding. We hope to raise awareness and address this issue.

It would be amazing if we could exceed the target. Donations will be a source of motivation in, what we are sure, will be a less than an enjoyable run in the park.

Logistically, the marathon route will be a 5km loop around Liverpool docks, Oli doing the full 26.2 miles (8 loops) and D doing every other loop - a half marathon.

Wish us luck, we know the odds are against us. Your support, whether through donations or messages of encouragement will be greatly received.

Lots of love,

Oli and Dorota :)
