Story
As most of you will know my son Oli was born 8 weeks early. Although a very traumatic time Steve and I were very lucky, Oli was a strong boy from the minute he arrived and although he was tube fed initially he blossomed quickly. The staff in Neonatal at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary were amazing.
We were so fortunate and I am very aware it could have been so different. Oli was in hospital for 3 weeks after his arrival and during this time I got to know other parents and their personal stories. The happiness of familes with premature babies often depends on specialised equipment and staff and without charities like BLISS these things would not be as available.
After I got over the shock of my wonderful boy's early arrival I decided I wanted to do something to help but I never ever believed it would be 13.1 miles! People who know me well will realise the enormity of this mad decision but it seemed fitting to stretch myself to the max for such a worthy cause.
Oli is 4 years old now and starts school this year - he is extremely excited!!
