Royal Parks Half Marathon 2013 · 6 October 2013 ·

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

So apparently I'm running a half marathon for the UK domestic violence charity Refuge. As most anyone who has ever seen me late for something has probably noticed, I'm not exactly athletic-ly inclined so this is something of a daunting idea on a personal level for which any and all support would be appreciated.

More importantly, though, I'm keen to raise money to help Refuge (http://refuge.org.uk/). They do really great work to support those who have suffered from domestic violence, whilst also raising awareness more generally. Also, many recent governmental cuts have severely affected social services for issues surrounding domestic violence, meaning charities like Refuge have become all the more important to sustain.

Even the smallest amount will help me towards my £400 goal and the charity towards doing its day-to-day good things so please donate if you can possibly spare some money for a cause.
