여러분은 저를 올리 아빠로 알고계시지만 저는 사실 런던의 한 교회의 교구목사이기도 하답니다.
사실 제가 영국 전지역을 통틀어서 유일하게 매일 4륜 오토바이를 타고 출근을 하는 교구목사일 것 같네요.
어쨌든 여러저는 이제 자선 챌린지에 도전하려 합니다. 7월 23일에 제 4륜 오토바이를 타고 전국일주를 하려고 하는데, 북런던에서 출발해서 영국 국토 가장 위쪽 끝에 위치한 랜즈엔드라는 땅 끝 지역까지 가려고 해요. 총 330마일(약531km) 정도 되는 거리이고 하루만에 완주하고 싶어요.
이걸 왜 하는 거냐구요? 저희 교회에서 흥미진진한 새 프로젝트를 진행하고 있거든요. 북런던의 저희 구역에 새로운 복지관을 지으려고 하는데, 이 복지관은 정말 많은 사람들에게 오랜 시간동안 도움을 줄 수 있는 시설입니다. 노숙자들을 위한 주방을 만들 계획이고요, 저희 공동체에서 어려움을 겪고있는 분들께 무상으로 음식과 옷을 제공해드리려고 합니다. 또 어린이들과 청소년들이 와서 뛰놀고, 공부하고, 학교 끝나도 들를 수 있는 넓은 공간도 마련하려합니다. 그리고 가족들이 와서 쉴 수 있는 멋진 카페도 만들어서, 그곳에서 영어 회화 수업도 진행하려고 계획하고 있어요.
정말 멋진 공간이 될거예요! 제가 여러분께 여쭤보고 싶은 것은 - 이런 저희 바람이 현실이 될 수 있도록 여러분도 함께 힘을 모아주실 수 있을까요? 새 복지관을 건설하기 위해 자금을 모으고 있어서 모든 분들께 기부를 부탁하고 있어요. 단돈 몇 천원 이라도 괜찮아요. 우리 모두가 조금씩 돕는다면 정말 많은 사람들에게 도움이 되고 저희 꿈이 현실이 될 수 있을 거예요!
You know me as Ollie's Dad, but I am also a vicar in a church in London.
In fact, I must be the only Vicar in all of Great Britain that drives to work every day on a Quad Bike!
Now, I'm taking on a charity challenge. On 23rd July I'm driving my Quad Bike across the whole country, from North London to Land's End at the very tip of England. It's about 330 miles and I want to do it all in 1 day.
Why am I doing this? My church has an exciting new project. We are building a new community centre in our area of North London. This new centre will help lots of people for many years. It will have a kitchen for homeless people. It will give our free food and clothes to people in our community having a hard time. It will have a big space for children and young people to play, learn and come after school. It will have a great cafe for families to use and it will host English conversation classes.
It's going to be great! My question is - can you help make it happen? We need to raise money to build the new centre and we're asking everyone to give. Even if it's just a few dollars - if every gives a little we can raise a lot to help many people and make our dream a reality!
