Olly&Mat Welsh 3000 4 ChallengeAid

Welsh 3000 4 ChallengeAid · 18 July 2018
Oliver White and I will be attempting the Welsh 3000 challenge. For those who have never heard of it, rhe Welsh 300 Thousand consists in climbing all 15 (some say 14 ...) e mountains over 3,000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport. The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total. Have a look here http://www.welsh3000s.co.uk/ .
I say ' attempting' , since I (Mat) am a 52 years old man -one of the most 'mature' members of staff at Llandovery College- who did not have the time to train particularly well for the challenge. Olly on the other hand is a fit young man who have just completed his A level: it won't be easy to keep up with him!
Why Challenge Aid? Because 'it does what it says on the tin'.
The aim of ChallengeAid is to take children out of poverty through education in some of the slums of Nairobi. This unique concept is both an alternative and complementary type of education which allows many children who are unable to attend school during the day to be able to continue their studies at night through our ‘Schools of Hope’ programme. The SoH operate after school hours, giving children educational support by providing desks, chairs, lighting and most importantly a good supply of up-to-date text books. None of the money raised is used for administrative purposes.
