My Challenge:

I am challenging myself to travel 10,000 Miles by public transport in only 1 month (9th July -> 8th August), an arduous feat which will require many sleepless nights, a huge amount of planning and a great deal of grit. I’m only counting sustainable means of travel, as listed below. I am completing this challenge in aid of Save the Children, an incredible charity who do a huge amount of good and don’t get nearly enough attention. All donations pass through JustGiving to them- I do not see a penny of it.

The rules are as follows:

- Only mileage completed by sustainable means of travel (Train, Metro, Tram, Trolleybus, Bus or Ferry) will count towards the total. Flying is banned entirely and Taxis/Cars will not count towards the total mileage. If I encounter another form of transport, it will be allowed but will not count towards the total unless otherwise stated.

- I aim to visit at least 25 checkpoints, including those featured in the races I will take part in (The Scenic Route and the Slovenian Arrow) and earn at least 50 Project Europa points. Project Europa is a checkpoint-hunting competition hosted by Lupine Racing.

- Distances will be measured using the Rail Planner app (double-checking sporadically done via Viaduct.world as a sense-check) for train distances and basic point-to-point estimates on google maps wherever that fails. This will lead to the distance being an underestimate, ensuring the validity of the challenge.

These would all apply for 24 hours and will only take place between the 14th of July and the 30th of July. If you donate that amount before then, I'll do it during the first week of the points trip (14th-21st).

Save the Children's target is a world in which every child has the right to survive, learn and be protected, an ambitious goal which I wholeheartedly support.

No child deserves to go hungry. No child deserves to live without shelter, without education or without healthcare.

Save the Children supports children to transform their lives. They put children's rights at the core of their work. They tackle big problems that can hold children back - like poverty and inequality - while calling on leaders to stand up for them.
