Story
On June 7th, I will be attempting to play 100 holes of golf in Powerscourt GC as part of the Captains' Charity day, all in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
That's over 5.5 rounds of golf, starting at 4.00am, covering a distance of around 50km (on a very hilly East Course in Powerscourt!) and hitting c.450 golf shots (though it could end up being 500!)
Why am I fundraising?
Over the past year, cancer has touched the lives of several friends and loved ones around me. It’s caused heartbreak and deep challenges, and it’s something my own family is currently facing. I’ve come to see just how complex the battle with cancer really is—and how vital the work of organisations like the Irish Cancer Society can be in offering support, hope, and care.
This is my small way of giving back. Every euro raised will help the Irish Cancer Society continue their incredible work for patients and families across Ireland.
Big thank you to Captains Damian and Siobhan for facilitating this as part of their Charity Day (also in aid of the Irish Cancer Society) and thank you to Powerscourt Golf club, in particular Gavin, for the support.
Any and all donations are hugely appreciated. To up the stakes and the pressure, I will be personally donating €20 for every ball I lose - anyone that has played golf with me knows that this has the potential to bankrupt me!
