Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for our '100k in a day' challenge 2024. My buddy Ben Rockett and I are taking on the challenge to walk 100km in a day (inside 24 hours) to raise money for the Alzheimer‘s Society of Ireland charity.
The route we’re following is along the Kennet & Avon canal, starting at my home in Bath at 2100 on Thurs 6th June, walking East for 50km, then turning and returning to Bath before 2100 on Friday. Last year I completed 100km solo in just under 20 hours and raised £2000 for the mental health charity Mind. I found the challenge incredibly difficult but was delighted to raise much needed funds for an incredible charity.
The idea to repeat this challenge arose when talking with Ben back in January about the best way for us to catchup during his visit back to the UK after 5 years in Australia. Given we both enjoy nothing more than an endurance challenge and supporting good causes we decided to take on the ‘100k in a day’ challenge again.
This time round we’re raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, a charity that has unfortunately come into my family’s focus over the past few months following my Dad’s diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease earlier this year. In the short period of time since his diagnosis we have already witnessed first hand the incredible support the charity offer to those diagnosed, and their families. Ben and I wanted to do what we could to raise awareness of the charity and some funds for it.
Thank you in advance for your support.
