Story
This September, I’m taking on the challenge of walking 100 miles to raise awareness and funds for Desmoid Aid UK – a charity that’s become incredibly close to my heart since being diagnosed with a desmoid tumour.
Desmoid tumours are a rare intermediate tumour, affecting approximately 50,000 people worldwide each year. While they don’t spread to other parts of the body like cancer does, they can grow aggressively in one area, causing intense pain, damaging nearby organs or tissues, and seriously impacting daily life.
There’s no cure, and treatment – when needed – can be intense. Options can include chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted drugs, surgery, or even radiation. Many people go through multiple treatments due to the high recurrence rate, and the emotional and physical toll can be overwhelming.
That’s where Desmoid Aid UK comes in. They provide trusted information, community support, and practical help to people living with this condition.
✨ And here’s something really special:
Every £350 raised goes directly towards a grant to help someone recently diagnosed — supporting them through a time that’s often filled with confusion, fear, and difficult decisions.
Walking 100 miles might seem simple — but for those of us managing desmoids, pain, and fatigue, it’s a real challenge. Every mile I walk is for those silently facing this diagnosis, and every donation brings us closer to more support, more awareness, and more hope.
If you can spare a donation – no matter how small – it would mean the world.
Thank you for standing with me 🩷
