100 miles to help end youth homelessness

Gareth Price is raising money for New Horizon Youth Centre

South Down Way 100 mile race · 14 June 2025

Every year, thousands of young people across the capital become homeless through no fault of their own. That’s why New Horizon exists. We are a vital support network for 16–24-year-olds with nowhere else to go. Through our services, we support young people experiencing homelessness in London to improve their wellbeing, change their economic circumstances and find somewhere that they can call home.

Story

On Saturday 13th June I’m taking part in the South Downs Way 100 mile race from Winchester to Eastbourne. I'm using this opportunity to raise as much money as possible for New Horizon Youth Centre - an inspirational organisation near Kings Cross that supports young people experiencing homelessness. I've never witnessed a more impactful charity.

New Horizon works alongside young people aged 16-24 to overcome the barriers life has put in their way and solve their homelessness for good. They offer young people: someone to listen to their story and make sure they’re safe and healthy; home cooked food, warm clothes and sleeping equipment; expert support to find somewhere safe to sleep; longer term accommodation; and a life skills programme to help them prepare for independence.

As soon as you spend time at New Horizon you realise immediately that young people experiencing homelessness have come to the best possible place.
