Story
Hi I’m Joe, I’m 17 years old and from the 1st June to the 30th June I’ll be doing 100 push-ups everyday , to raise money for the ANDY’S MAN CLUB charity. This year, I did things a little different and let my girlfriend Rosanna and her family pick the charity I’ll be raising money for over the next 30 days of the challenge. Rosanna and her mum Julie chose this charity as it holds a big place in their hearts and it’s a valuable resource for men in particular who are struggling with their mental health and need support from others.
The Andy’s Man Club is a mental health charity dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for men over the age of 18. The club was created in 2016 by Elaine Roberts (Andrew’s mother) and Luke Ambler (Andrew’s brother-in-law) in memory of beloved Andrew Roberts who took his own life at the age of 23. Recognising that suicide is a leading cause of death for men under 54, Andrew’s death then prompted his family to prevent the stigma around male mental health and suicide. That’s when Elaine and Luke came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, creating a judgement-free and safe, supportive peer-to-peer space for men. The first Club meeting was attended by nine men, which marked the beginning of a nationwide movement. The organization now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer led with 270+ free support groups each week, 5,800+ weekly attendees and over 2,500 amazing volunteers. To help spread awareness use the hashtag #ITSOKAYTOTALK and always remember its okay to speak up!
Any donation no matter how big or small will be beyond appreciated, Thank you in advance.
