Story
I am deeply saddened to hear that Dog A.I.D are at risk of closing due to a lack of funding and I wanted to play my part in trying to save the charity. I have decided to take on a 100 dog trick challenge with Rowley and Luna, in loving memory of my beautiful Ruby who was a qualified Dog A.I.D Assistance Dog.
Dog A.I.D (Assistance In Disability) enable adults with physical disabilities to train their own pet dog as an Assistance Dogs with help from professional dog trainers who volunteer their time. They helped me to train my first Assistance Dog Ruby, and it’s thanks to them that I found my passion for dog training.
After qualifying with Ruby I went on to complete a degree in Animal Behaviour and then became a volunteer trainer with the charity so that I could help other people to train their dogs just like I had done with Ruby.
When Ruby retired, Dog A.I.D supported me in training her successor, Rowley. I am not planning to join the Dog A.I.D scheme with Luna (Rowley’s successor) as it is no longer the best option for us, but the charity still mean a lot to me and I want to help save them so that they can go on helping others.
Rowley and Luna are doing a sponsored ‘trickathon’ by learning 100 fun dogs tricks between them. I will be recording the tricks to post on our social media page once they have hit 100. Some tricks they already know, but many will be brand new.
I am doing this challenge in memory of my Dog A.I.D Assistance Dog Ruby who sadly passed away earlier this year at the fantastic age of 15. She was an extraordinary dog and touched the lives of so many people. All donations to help save Dog A.I.D in her memory are gratefully received. Thank you for your generosity and support.
