Story
In July 2026, 5 of our young people ( aged 15 to 18 years ) and 1 young leader from our 12th Inverness Boys' Brigade will take part in a 10-day build trip to Mexico. We will be joining a small group of other BB members from across the UK. Working alongside our build partner, Amor Europe, the young people will help construct a home for a family living in poverty.
This isn’t just about building a house; it’s about providing hope and a new beginning for a family in need.
Each day as part of the build the young people will be hands on building a home from the ground up, under the supervision and instruction of an experienced foreman onsite. During each day they will also meet with the local community including children & young people.
As well as making a lasting difference for the family in a local community in Tijuana, Mexico, this experience will have a profound impact on the young people themselves. Through the trip, they will have a wide range of opportunities, including experiencing new culture and community, developing confidence and independence, and gaining valuable life skills. They will also explore issues such as poverty and social injustice, broadening their understanding of the world and their role within it.
Importantly, this project is not just about the trip itself — it includes months of preparation and planning, with the young people actively involved in fundraising too. So far, we have planned a Coffee Afternoon, bag packing, a Mexican meal night, a bingo night, a raffle and more!
The cost of the trip is over £2000 per person and so there is a lot of work to do in raising the funds to cover the build costs plus travel, accommodation and food.
Thank you for your support in making this life-changing trip possible
