Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page in support of Maggie's Newcastle!

We are a team of 14 ladies wanting to raise money for Maggie’s Newcastle. Our names are Tanya Bartley, Lisa Robson, Tracy Bohill, Jordan Graham, Suzanne Maughan, Shelley Brunsdon, Gill Brannighan, Alison Tait, Kelly Cooperswaithe, Heather Flannighan, Debbie Foggin, Katie Gibson, Wendy McEvoy, and Joanne Wallace.

We are all walking to raise as much as we can for an amazing charity…… here’s some of our stories of how cancer has impacted our lives and loved ones.

Lisa Robson

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal breast cancer at the age of 44. I tackled 6 rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy at Newcastle Freeman Hospital. During my treatment I would often call into Maggie’s Newcastle with my mam. The staff were wonderful, so welcoming and their support was immense when I had so many questions to ask over a nice cuppa and cake. I also attended the Look Good Feel Better Workshop. When I attended this initially I had hair, eyebrows, eyelashes etc.

As I progressed through my treatment I lost it all. In going to this workshop, it gave me the opportunity to speak to people who were in a similar situation to me (it’s nice having the time to speak to someone that understands), and I was shown how to draw eyebrows with makeup and got a lovely free goodie bag full of makeup and perfume which literally did make me feel better.

Maggie’s is a wonderful place to help support anyone going through cancer or for family members. I’m going to walk the coastal walk to help support them and raise money to help others. I’m lucky that the treatment worked for me and I’m writing this to support the service they provide and see others get the support they need too, just like me.

Tanya Bartley

My mam has an inoperable brain tumour, which is secondary from having breast cancer 18 years ago. The cancer has now spread to her bones, yet she is still here fighting. It’s been a bumpy road, but I’m always by my mams side.

Maggies has been a fantastic for both me and my mam, from helping us get mam a blue badge, knowing what benefits mam could get, various support groups and just somewhere nice to sit whilst attending appointment after appointment.

My 15 year old son Joe, has busked outside st. James park on match days now for 2 year, and donates regularly to Maggies 🧡

Please help us all in raising as much money as we can for such an amazing charity, our target between us all, is £1000.
