150 mile cycle · 19 May 2025

1 in 4 children are living in poverty in Scotland. That isn’t right. Not all children are born with an equal chance. We know that by working together we will beat poverty and discrimination. With your help, we will reach more children and their families earlier, before it’s too late.

Story

This year marks an incredible milestone for Aberlour Children's Charity – 150 years of supporting vulnerable children and families in Scotland. To celebrate their legacy and help ensure their vital work continues, we’re taking on a challenge that’s close to our hearts: cycling a total of 150 miles from where it all began, in the Speyside village of Aberlour, to the current headquarters in Stirling!

Jozanne and I are both honoured to serve on Aberlour’s board and to have watched Aberlour’s work over the years, meeting the incredible staff who make it their mission to look out for children and their families across the country.

Every mile we pedal is dedicated to raising funds for Aberlour, so they can continue providing essential care, resources, and hope to children who need it most.

The route we’re taking will have a whopping 2,400 plus metres of elevation and we’ll tackle it over 2 days. The first day is a hilly 50 miler, starting in Aberlour and passing through Tomintoul, before ending in Ballater in Royal Deeside. The second day we’ll head off and make our way through Braemar, Spittal of Glenshee, Bridge of Cally, Blairgowrie, skirting Perth, passing Kinkell Bridge and Dunblane, ending our 100 miles epic in Stirling! We hope to be cheered on by some of the children and families we work with - we may need that motivation.

We would be so grateful for your support – every donation will make a difference. Together, we can help Aberlour make the next 150 years just as impactful as the last. Thank you!
