Story
Devastatingly, on the 12th December 2025 my Dad, Paul, lost his battle with prostate cancer. Dad was a loving father, husband, brother and a friend to many. He was originally diagnosed in late 2023, going through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatments to limit the effects and increase his life expectancy. Sadly, this was all the treatment could do, as symptoms did not present until after diagnosis, by which time the cancer had become advanced. He passed away surrounded by family with his Mother, Wife, Son, Daughter and Brother all by his side.
Prostate cancer is a devastating illness which will affect 1 in 8 men in their lifetime. While prostate cancer primarily impacts men, the secondary impact on wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends is significant, and they all bare the heavy impact that diagnosis carries with it. This is why I am running 160km over 32 days (5km per day) and the Brighton Marathon 2026 in order to raise money towards aiding earlier diagnosis, making information about the illness more widespread and simply stronger support for those diagnosed. The fact is that there simply is not enough funding in the UK to enable earlier testing, which could have saved my Dad.
