Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Young people are increasingly struggling with their mental health. The effects of covid, social media and cost of living pressures are all contributing to a decline in wellbeing and an in increase in mental health disorders.
So what can we do about it?
Green spaces and gardens are associated with decreased stress and have a significant positive impact on pupil health and wellbeing (RHS)
And soil even combats anxiety as it contains mycobacterium vaccae which stimulates serotonin production, a natural antidepressant (PNAS)
Last year our gardening club increased student wellbeing by connecting students with nature and the seasons, helping them grow and cook their own food and engaged with local charities and competitions
This year with the help of Friends of Twynham and local landscape architect Jacqui Van Bommel Senior Landscape architect, we want to go further .....
Our dream is to turn this otherwise unused courtyard into an accessible sanctuary, so all students can access nature, take time away from the pressure and stresses of modern life, and increase their mental wellbeing. This versatile space will also be used as an outdoor classroom.
If you want to make a huge positive impact to your local community this year, please support us in supporting these amazing young people.
