ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY Words…

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

AMY’S STORY! And her poem, below...

I’m trekking 26 MILES across the PEAK DISTRICT!

And!!!!! I don't like walking!!! 😘 lol!

Put me on a bike any day…but walking! I don’t go for walks. I don’t see the purpose! NOW! I have a PURPOSE!

Please sponsor me & help us find a cure for dementia, a crippling disease which has & is still slowly dissolving my beautiful Dad's life.

I dream of a world where dementia dissolves! Read on…

Training! If I get a bus/train into town or work…I walk it back. I.5 hours. No matter what time of day…or if it’s pouring! 🙏🙏🙏😘

I am slowly building up the distance…and…I’m starting to really enjoy it! (Apart from the blisters!) 😘🙏🌟

MY BEAUTIFUL DAD

My beautiful Dad, is now in a care home. My mother & I cared for him through the entire pandemic & my mother afterwards with carers, when I moved back to work in London, before he was taken into a home.

I am a poet! As part of my fundraiser I am writing poems about dementia & my beautiful Dad, so others can read and empathise if they’ve never been through the heart breaking experience of losing someone you love, day by day; or, for those who are currently dealing with the difficulties of caring, to read and cry, or read & laugh! There are lots of funny times too!

I dream of a world, where they find a cure for this crippling disease. We also lost my grandmother to dementia & my Dad, late into his 60’s, broke his back, to look after his only parent, until she passed.

This is for my beautiful Dad, this is for my Mum, this is for anyone caring for someone with dementia, this is for those just starting on that terrifying journey. This is for the world.

AMY'S FIRST POEM FOR THE CAMPAIGN about dementia (please see my photo of this poem in ‘View Gallery’ - you have to swipe to the left - for the poem in it's chosen font and design...this main page won't allow variation's...)

Dad,

A Dad to Amy and David,

Dad, just doesn’t now know…

my face…

Please help us find a cure. 1 in 3 adults suffer from dementia. I hope in my lifetime. It becomes 0 in 3.

Big love.
