It's estimated that 1 in 5 people (1 in 4 women and 1 in 6-7 men) experience domestic abuse in their lifetime (NCDV.org.uk). I am participating in Tough Mudder 10K Mud Run and Obstacle Course to raise money for Independent Choices Greater Manchester (ICGM), a confidential helpline for anyone over the age of 16 who is experiencing or has previously experienced domestic abuse & violence in any form. ICGM was originally set up in 1978 and supports survivors with emotional support, advice, safety planning, support around housing and seeking refuge and advice around legal options.

The Tough Mudder is a 10 Kilometer course, packed with 20 obstacles (including Arctic Enema, Everest, Mudderhorn and Electroshock Therapy), and is absolutely caked in mud!

I would like to note that I am volunteering at Tough Mudder before partaking myself, this means that my entry is free and none of the funds raised will go towards me completing the course.

Additionally I do currently work for ICGM and have been for the past year. None of the funds raised will go to me in any way and will all go straight into the charity to support the work we do with survivors of domestic abuse.
