Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

Our incredible Team Cure are taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to help find a cure for Parkinson's.

Story

Parkinsons is a very cruel and debilitating disease for which there is no cure.

We lost Bill Wilde to this terrible illness in March of this year - a dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

We watched a huge personality of a man reduced to a mere shadow of himself as he struggled with this disease and its complications.

We also have another close family member struggling with Parkinsons, plus many close friends who have been devastated by the impact of this degenerative illness on their respective families.

We have decided to fundraise for this worthwhile charity in the hope that one day a cure will be discovered, and in doing so are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October.

All three of us share a love of running as members of Istead and Ifield Harriers, though this will be the first race we have tackled as a group together (and for Julie her first, and last, half marathon!) - and we wanted to do so whilst supporting a cause close to our hearts.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated by us on behalf of the whole family and Cure Parkinsons.
