Story

I never thought I would be a father to a child with cancer.

I never really knew what bravery was until I watch my daughter continue to fight leukaemia every single day with a smile on her face.

The journey is long and the journey is hard but as a family we find strength from depths we never knew existed. We pour ourselves dry because we have to.

If you ever see a child fight cancer it will change your life forever.

Real superhero's live in the hearts of small children fighting big battles.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Childhood leukaemia is a cruel disease, requiring literally hundreds of blood tests, countless operations and intense chemotherapy with nasty side effects.

Seeing my daughter Skye and other little warriors continue to fight their battle against this disease at the Royal Marsden Hospital is inspiring.

Treatment leaves children bed-ridden and unable to walk for months, steals their childhood and lasts a minimum of 2.5yrs for girls and 3.5yrs for boys, plagued with many emergency hospital trips along the way.

Thanks to research, survival rates have greatly improved from having been zero in the 1970s to almost 90% today.

Together with your support we can genuinely make the day that every child survives much, much closer. Whilst finding new ways to deliver cancer treatment that has less potent side effects for every child that is diagnosed.

Rock to the Clock Challenge:

I will cycle from the Rock of Gibraltar to Big Ben in London, covering 1,750 miles with an Ironman in-between.

Starting on 11th August from the Rock of Gibraltar, the route traverses across all of mainland Spain, skirting Madrid, through Zaragoza and up into the Pyrenees mountains, taking on the infamous Col du Tourmalet the highest mountain pass at 7,000 feet.

After a few more days of cycling in France the route arrives in Vichy after 1,000 miles to take on Ironman Vichy on 20th August. A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a marathon in one day. https://www.ironman.com/im-vichy

The next day, the journey continues onwards winding itself past Paris, on to Calais across the Channel and towards The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, Surrey where Skye receives treatment. After visiting the hospital and delivering the money raised there's one final push to the finish line, the clock, Big Ben in Westminster, to finish the course on Friday 25th August.

Total Distance on Strava: 1,750 miles, 105,000 feet of climbing

Gibraltar to Vichy: 1,053 miles, 79,398ft of climbing

Ironman Vichy: 141 miles, 7,824ft of climbing

Vichy to Calais: 448 miles, 13,855ft of climbing

Dover to Big Ben: 107 miles, 4,648ft of climbing

With your help I hope to raise over £40,000, knowing that every mile up the mountains is more funding to help children who need it most.

Thank you for all of your support.
