Story
I am running the London Marathon on 26/4/26 - my first attempt at this monumental challenge. Its never too late..
I am supporting the Book Trust, UK's largest reading charity, which transforms lives by getting children and families reading.
I benefitted hugely from growing up in a family where books were everywhere. My father Adrian was a bookshop addict and would plan family outings around the bookshops he wanted to visit. My mother Teeney got me started reading early and would patiently listen to my early attempts at Winnie the Pooh and other children's classics.
I worked for the NHS for over 40 years, but now I'm done doctoring, I'm rediscovering my passion for literature through studying Creative Writing
A love of books changes lives. Children who read for pleasure are likely to do better at school, as well as be more socially, culturally and emotionally prepared for life.
More than half of children in the UK don't have a bedtime story at home.
By donating, you are helping more children experience the joy and lifelong benefits of reading.
