Story
This November, my colleagues and I from the Ellesmere Port Neighbourhood team have decided to embrace our inner 1970s cop/midlife crisis hybrid and grow some truly questionable moustaches — all in the name of a good cause.
We’re raising money for Wirral Hospice St John’s, in memory of Dawn Barnett, who sadly lost her battle with cancer last month. Dawn brought so much laughter, kindness, and warmth to everyone who knew her — and we wanted to do something that not only honours her, but also helps others facing the same fight.
Wirral Hospice provides incredible care and support for people living with life-limiting illnesses, ensuring they have somewhere like home to rest, find comfort, and spend precious time surrounded by family and loved ones. It’s a truly special place, and one that meant a great deal to Dawn and to all of us.
To make things even more meaningful, Graeme Carvell will be taking on the London Marathon next year, also running in support of Wirral Hospice. Whatever we raise through our Movember efforts will join his fundraising pot — so every penny truly helps!
So please, if you can, dig deep and donate whatever you can spare. Even the smallest amount makes a difference — and let’s be honest, it’s surely worth a few quid just to witness me trying (and failing) to pull off a horrendous ginger moustache for an entire month.
Here’s to Dawn — and to bringing a little laughter to something that means so much.
